Brother Tyler Doka is the pastor of Great Harvest Church and was born and raised on Long Island, NY. After attending a secular college he received salvation through belief on the Lord Jesus Christ. Not raised in a Christian home he began to separate himself from his unsaved peers to understand what is good, acceptable, and the perfect will of God. He then met his wife Maria through a faith based profile on eHarmony, and after a few days of knowing each other, they both deleted their accounts and began dating. Three months later they were engaged, then married, and now have a beautiful baby girl Adaline and another child on the way.
Brother Tyler Doka started Great Harvest Church on January 14th, 2018. Following the path clearly laid out in the Bible, he was trained at his local Church, where he labored in the gospel. This is where he preached, taught, song lead, and won souls while attending, and when the Lord willed, he was sent to pastor a church on Long Island. Today most churches are started by Bible colleges, however, the Bible states that the church is the pillar and ground of the truth, and makes no mention of schools for training. We started this church the old-fashioned way by knocking doors and winning souls to Christ.
Brother Tyler Doka currently works full time at his secular job and will continue to do so until the Lord leads him to pastor the church full time. This will never hinder his ability to lead this church or his family in the direction of the Lord, but will be an example to the younger and older men that hard work and labor for the gospel is possible. Brother Tyler Doka is our main preacher with Brother Justin LeBlanc, and also goes soul winning, leads the church in song, and manages the church’s website.
Qualifications of a Pastor
5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Brother Justin and his wife Joy have been faithful members of Great Harvest Church since our first Wednesday night service on January 17th, 2018. His desire for soul winning and his ability to clearly present the gospel (while teaching others to do the same) has earned him his ordained position of our churches evangelist. We pray that brother Justin will soon be a full time staff member when the church can support him and his family, at which time he will begin laboring for the Lord daily. Currently, he is working part time, soul winning the majority of the week, and is a preacher, song leader, and video editor. We know we will see great things out of this faithful and dedicated family, and brother Justin even has the desire to be a pastor when the time is right.
Requirements of an Evangelist
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
